Why adopt a cavapoo image
Since 2019 we have decided to offer cavapoo puppies to loving families.  Cavalier King Charles are the most gentle affectionate breed of dog we have ever had the pleasure of owning.  These dogs seem to be able to look right into your very soul.  We also found out that this breed rarely barks.  What a wonderful feeling of joy and love we receive from these wonderful beings.

My daughter was an anxiety sufferer. One particular dog picked up on her condition and instinctively figured out what it was she needed to be calmed.

One very special 3/4 poodle and 1/4 cavalier little girl will sit with me for hours. I suffered a Hemorrhagic stroke 2 and a half years ago. Since this little girl was born in our home her and I have been drawn together. She is much too small to be a part of our breeding program so she will live out her days as my dog. Sitting with her in my lap brings my blood pressure down considerably.

Our dogs are our family members. When they have finished breeding they will live out their lives with us. We are just too attached to even think about parting with them. We have created our puppy application form to help us find perfect families with the same values as we do.

We are experts at what we do. It is our goal to create expert puppy owners. Weekly informational messages are sent to the families while their puppy grows. There are reports on the world wide web that cavapoos suffer from separation anxiety. We help you raise a puppy into a calm self secure wonderful dog that you can live with.

Please feel free to look over our website. If you wish please fill out our puppy application form. Once the form is completed clicking on send will provide you with an automatic message from us. This message contains our adoption fees and a little more information plus my phone number. If you wish to move forward in adopting one of our puppies or if you have any further questions please give me a call. My dogs are my favourite subject.

I look forward to reading your application form and perhaps hearing from you.

We wish you the very best

About Us image
Also known as the Original Teddy Bear Dog, Cavapoos are graceful, sweet, and gentle, and make good companion dogs for all ages. We love Cavaliers, Poodles and Cavapoos because they are wonderful small house dogs with huge personalities that rarely bark.

It is our goal that each of our puppies are offered the best possible life. We are privileged to be welcomed guests in their lives. Unconditional love is the gift we receive from these wonderful creatures. I feel so much more relaxed and feel so happy when I am cuddling with one of our dogs. There must be some health benefits in doing that?

All of our parent dogs have been genetically tested for your piece of mind. Genetic diseases are so prominent now that most dogs are carriers for one disease or another. Being a carrier means the dog will never develop the disease, however, if two dogs are carriers of the same disease and then allowed to mate, one or more of their puppies have a high probability of developing that disease. If a breeder does not perform genetic testing adopting a puppy from them is literally playing roulette.

It has come to our attention that new puppy mills as well as backyard breeders have arisen since the beginning of COVID. These people can be recognized by their extremely low adoption fees and always having puppies available.. This tells you those breeder's main goal is to make a quick buck and nothing more. . ONLY ADOPT FROM A REPUTABLE BREEDER. In the long run you will be getting your money’s worth and a healthy happy puppy that will bring joy to your family’s lives for many years to come.

Our puppies receive first vaccinations and a complete health exam by our veterinarian before going to their new homes. A de-wormer is given at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks. The last dose given just before going to their new homes.

Six people in our family ensure proper human socialization, and our new cat, Peachie, is always curious of new puppy litters as well as our other dogs. Safely, our very old cat, Fiona, passed away at age of 19. It was extremely hard to say good bye to her because she was with us for so long. Fiona's favorite pass time was sitting at the end of our drive way to greet the dogs and their owners passing by. She also loved to be vacuumed. She now sits on our mantle with her paw prin

We are high-end breeders and our adoption fees reflect the effort, time and love that goes into developing such wonderful puppies. Most new owners have reported being amazed that their puppy was house trained at an extremely young age, as well as learning new commands with ease. These puppies truly are worth it!. Another reason our adoption fees are on the high end is to prevent scammers from using our little ones as a commodity. This has happened to us once and leaving no room for profit is a huge deterrent for it to ever happen again. Keeping parent dogs healthy, feeding them high quality food and caring for them in their retirement years at a young age is a financial responsibility. Our dogs live the life of luxury in all their life stages, and they deserve it.

For more information on our adoption fees please send us a message, or fill out our Puppy Application Form clicking on "SEND" will allow you to receive an automatic message giving information on our adoption fees.

We litter train our puppies in non toxic wood pellets for three reasons.

  1. Clean up is so much easier and the wood pellets absorb odors.
  2.  New owners can keep their puppies safe indoors in their new homes until he or she receives the adequate amount of vaccinations against deadly viruses.  If a puppy contracts parvo, the virus will live in the puppies home for 7 years.  The result of a puppy contracting any virus is usually death.  On the rare occasion a puppy survives a disease, neurological damage will occur.  We strongly suggest keeping a puppy adopted from us litter trained until they have received their second vaccination.
  3. When house training begins this training will be so much easier because the puppies are already thinking about where they need to "go".
  4. Some of our very small parent dogs have very small puppies.  These puppies are too small to negotiate the sides of a litter box.  For these tiny ones we pee pad train on very high quality pee pads.
We utilize a device we made for the puppies to challenge their growing minds.  We call it our early agility center.   You can watch one of our past poodle puppies playing on it by clicking on this link.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0cWqtI0hOs  The toy attached near the top of the slide is placed there so the puppies will lose their balance trying to reach it and go down the slide. Yes, this causes them fear in the beginning but they soon learn that not all scary things will hurt them and the slide is fun.   The entire process of learning to play on this device causes the puppies to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills. A shy and timid puppy becomes an outgoing brave puppy. This early learning causes permanent neural pathways to grow in the puppies' brains.   Our cavapoos are like no others.

We love our puppies very much and get to know each of their individual personalities. Yes we get very attached, but we wouldn't want it any other way. This is also why we insist our puppies go to approved homes only. We trust you understand. Serious inquiries only please. No discounts will be given, nor will we lower our prices for any reason because scammers have reeled us in too. We must have a telephone conversation before any deposits are received.

If you wish to be on our waitlist please click on the link: "Puppy Application Form" at the top right of the home page. Each family is carefully selected to adopt one of our puppies by the answers they give on our Puppy Application. The choice of a puppy is given in the order we select applicants. We require a $500.00 deposit after our males and females have completed the first tie, ie, first mating.

All our puppies are born in our home, or in an emergency, at our Veterinarian Hospital. We encourage you to research other breeders and how they raise their puppies. If another breeder is unwilling or unable to show pictures of the parent dogs, we highly recommend not adopting their puppies. We do not wish to promote the suffering of parent dogs from puppy mills nor to perpetuate the use of precious little ones purely for profit.

We also provide lifetime breeder support. Please feel free to brag to us about your puppy any time and as often as you wish. Pictures and videos are most welcome and cherished.

We are the number one breeder of Cavapoo puppies in British Columbia for a reason. It was our intention to be as transparent as possible when creating our website. To be the number one breeder of cavapoos we decided to raise puppies that are healthy, well loved and properly socialized with humans. Being dedicated to being honest and ethical breeders takes time. If you feel the need to ask us two hours worth of questions, we suggest searching the local shelters or other breeders. Thank you, we truly hope you understand.

Warning about Scammers: We will never accept a deposit until we have spoken over the phone first. Don't be a victim!

Remember, if it's too good to be true, it probably is!
First of all what is a puppy mill?  The answer is simple.  The proprietor usually has multiple puppies available at any given time.  This on its own should be a red flag.  They also advertise on popular sites that allow ads for puppy adoption.  Some of them are legitimate.  Others are not. How to tell if an advertiser is a puppy mill?  Check to see if that seller has other ads running. Some of those adds might be to bad mouth legitimate breeders.  What reason would they do this?  To get rid of the competition of course.  They might say things to sway you from adopting from a specific breeder by using the first name of the owner and a website address. They might even say they experienced adopting a sick puppy from a specific breeder.  If they have pictures of the other breeders dogs then they copied those pictures without permission.  Check to see if they themselves are the owner or a registered breeder.  Registered breeders are allowed to place multiple adds in other locations for a lower fee.  Another red flag letting you know they are a puppy mill.  Steer clear of people who place ads like these.

The most popular way puppy mills sell their puppies is if you send them a question from an advertising site they answer you by claiming they are a friend of the breeder helping them to sell the puppies. In reality the puppy mill had hired a company to sell the puppies for them. This will assure that you will never meet the parent dogs or the original breeder.

Another way to tell if an a breeder is not the real thing is if the parent dogs have not been genetically tested. This states the owners do not care whether their breeding dogs are carriers of the same genetic diseases or one or both parents have two copies of a genetic disease. This means the parents could be or are affected. Some of these diseases are very serious that could cause blindness, or spinal cord anomalies. Sadly, these diseases will not show up until months or years after you have adopted an afflicted puppy. Not only can this affected puppy incur hundreds to thousands of dollars in vet bills, some diseases can kill a puppy before its first birthday. These puppies also can come home with you carrying an extra present that can infest you and your children, worms, especially , coccidia, is extremely difficult to eradicate.

The last thing to look out for is the adoption fee. A lower than average fee is a huge red flag. These types of breeders only create large volumes of puppies for profit. Adopting puppies from places like these also perpetuates the suffering of the parent dogs who are bred continuously with out a break until they either die giving birth or produce too small of litters. Then they are cold heatedly dumped on the doorstep of an animal shelter or worse.

Our fees reflect the effort and love we put into offering healthy puppies. All our parent dogs have been genetically tested. We only offer a few litters per year. Our main goal is the health of our puppies and to challenge their growing brains. Cognitive development and abilities of our puppies under 8 weeks of age is amazing and a wonder to be a witness to.

Our home is absolutely dog friendly. After all they are our best friends. Our females breeding career lasts a maximum of two years. They are then spayed and stay with us as our forever pets.

Our reputation as ethical breeders makes us very proud. But just as the saying goes all good things must come to an end so will Van Isle Cavapoos. We will be offering puppies for only the next two years but still offer life time support to our puppy owners.

If you want a quality puppy, plain and simple, adopt from a reputable Canadian breeder!

Thank you for taking the time to read this message. Please feel free to peruse our website.

We announce the birth of the puppies when they are a week old. We do this to avoid any disappointment should a puppy be unable to thrive.  Each puppy will wear an identification collar of a particular colour because most of our litters are born with red or dark apricot colours. These collars go home with your puppy as a keep sake.

From the age of 1 week until your puppy gose home with you we offer a weekly informational update to families who have provided a deposit. These updates include valuable tips from how to prepare your home for the arrival of your fur baby to what to look for to keep your puppy healthy. These updates are sent to you and your fellow litter mate families by text message once a week on the weekday of your puppies birth.

Carefully chosen families choose their puppy at six weeks of age. We do this by utilizing an app called WhatsApp for the convenience of those living on the mainland and because my husband has a compromised immune system due to chemotherapy. This gives each family an individual opportunity to choose their puppy from a live video stream right from their living rooms, and everyone gets to meet me. The choosing. Day usually takes place on a Sunday around 10:00 am. To prevent over handling in larger litters, we provide two choosing opportunities on that Sunday. The first group of families will choose their puppy in the morning. The second group will choose in the afternoon.

A selection of items including a litter box and metal grate is included in our Puppy Pack when you come to our home to pick up your adopted puppy.

We are located on beautiful Vancouver Island.  That is why we chose the name Van Isle Cavapoos.
Here is a Genetic Breakdown for each Cavapoo generation The (F) stands for First Generation:

  • F1 Cavapoo: Both parents are purebreds the puppies from this mating will be 50% Poodle and 50% Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
  • F1B Cavapoo: One parent is an F1 or cavapoo and the other parent is a purebred cavalier the puppies will then be 75% Poodle and 25% Cavalier King Charles Spaniel.                                                             Any other parings are not what we provide
We recently mated our purebred Cavalier King Charles Female, Sasha, to our purebred Cavalier King Charles male, Austin.  This is the first time we have bred purebred cavaliers.  We tried searching to bring new blood into our breeding program but it is almost impossible to find another breeder who genetically tests the parent dogs.

We are uncertain if we will breed purebed cavaliers in the future. We will be gentically testing all five of the puppies from Sasha's litter. If the tests results are good, we will breed purebred cavaliers as well as cavapoos in the future.
Most of our dogs give birth to five or six puppies.  One female has had only 4 puppies in her litters and in her last litter she only had 3.
Our older toy poodle male has been retired.  He is a rare blue.  Depending on which female he was pared  to, he would throw light and dark apricots, black and white party, and the occasional blue.  Now we have a new toy poodle male who is a gorgeous dark red.  We will be expecting more reds and dark apricots in our litters.

First of all, we teach the puppies how to use a litter box to alleviate themselves.    Each puppy will learn at an extremely young age to go to the bathroom in a designated area. They actually think about where to, "GO".  Other puppies, well they just, "GO". We did this for the ease in clean up and so the puppies can stay safe indoors until they receive their second vaccination.  This was the first learning opportunity that I did not realized how much the puppies would benefit from.  The beauty of our puppies being litter trained is there will be no need to get up in the middle of the night to allow your puppy to alleviate him/herself.

We are firm believers that the full learning potential of a puppy has not been discovered yet. We go beyond what most breeders do. Our puppies are never left alone for hours on end. When my first child was born my husband and I decided I would be a stay at home mom. Now my children are in their twenties and I am still a stay at home mom to my dogs and their puppies.

A few years ago I started an innovative way of raising puppies. I remembered how much fun my children had as toddlers playing on toys made for small children. I thought to my self, "Why wouldn't puppies enjoy playing on something similar?" I created a design and my husband built it for me. I called it, "an early activity center." This devise has a step on one end with a riser that is almost the same height of stairs in any home. The step led to yet another riser that leads to a landing. And finally the landing leads to a slide. The benefits the puppies gain from playing on the device are beyond what I ever intended. Including, as mentioned in our home page, critical thinking and problem solving skills. They learn how to negotiate stairs at an extremely young age. They also learn that even though some things may seem scary, such as being pushed off of the landing or down the slide for the first time, it ends up being a lot of fun. Some puppies even took their fun a step further and learned they could catch their litter mates in an ambush from the landing above by pouncing on them. Plus we have loads of fun watching the puppies learn how to play on our device. When the puppies are almost eight weeks old they no longer go down the slide they climb up it. When this happens, we know they have outgrown the miniature activity center just in time to go to their new homes with all the new skills they have learned.

Please click on this link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0cWqtI0hOs to watch one of our past puppies playing on our early activity center.

The Cavalier King Charles breed have an innate ability to sense human emotions.   Puppies who have even a tiny portion of this breed learn to develop this ability pretty much at birth.  We send our puppies to their new homes at 8 weeks so they can bond better with their families.
To choose a puppy we must have received a deposit from you first.  The choosing of begins when the puppies are between 4 and 5 weeks old.  This allows us to get to know each puppy’s  personality to give everyone an informed choice.  We utilize a video chat for you to choose your puppy. Once the first family has chosen the second family  will ne contacted. We fund the choosing will take between half an hour to ten minutes depending on many puppies there are to choose from. A puppy that has been chosen is not included in the next family's choice.

Be it the first or the last puppy chosen you will be adopting a puppy like no other.
Right in our living room.  If our dogs were to be kept in a basement bedroom or tucked out of site the puppies would not receive proper nurturing or human socialization.  After we trust our dogs to be complete house trained they are allowed to have full run of our home. How else could we enjoy their company every day.

We feel if the mother dog were to be in a guardian home she would not know us or trust us. The puppies would then sense that mistrust. Dogs give us unconditional love. It is our philosophy and duty to return that love. It is a sad reality that dogs are with us for such a short amount of time. Why not give them the very best of every thing life can offer. We feel privileged to be welcomed guests in their lives.
Yes, we recommend a few items. The first item we suggest for all puppy owners to order online as soon as you leave a deposit is a product called Snuggle Puppy. Ordering ahead of time will ensure the toy arrives before you bring your puppy home.  This is actually a toy for puppies and dogs.  It’s shape is perfect to comfort a puppy during the transition from our home to yours.  As your puppy ages it will give years of fun for your dog.  It comes with a heat pack and a battery operated beating heart.  You can find this item at snugglepupoy.com or Amazon.ca or by searching the internet

We also recommend a pet exercise pen of any kind. A litter box from a company named dollar tree. We provide one in our gift bag but two are better for easier clean up. We found using a food cooling rack from Home Hardware fits perfectly inside the litter box. The item is called IN SRYLE NON STICK COOLING RACK This helps deter the puppy from ingesting the wood pellets and digging in them. We also provide one of these in the gift bag. The wood pellets we use are hardwood pellets. These can be found at any large animal feed store or Canadian Tire. The item at Canadian Tire is named Canawick. We love using wood pellets because they not only obsorb urine but odours as well. To protect your flooring we recommend any water proof runner backed carpet.  And of course water and food bowls. Non spill is best.

Anxiety is leaned through environmental factors. We can help you train your puppy so he or she never develops this troublesome behaviour.

Bringing Home Puppy image
If you have no experience in raising a puppy or need a refresher we are here to help.

We recommend your puppy be indoors until he or she has received a second vaccination. Parvovirus and Distemper are deadly and can live in the ground for up to seven years.

An exercise pen helps to ensure the safety of your new little one from contagious diseases as well as dangers that can be in a home. Let's face it, a puppy can not be watched every second. There are electrical cords that can be chewed on, perhaps a flight of stairs to fall from, or even that priceless heirloom to use as a chew toy. Also, puppies need a lot of sleep in their first few months of life. A place to feel safe and to take a well needed break is what both puppy and humans need.

If given free run of your home your puppy will become confused as to where to alleviate him or her self. A water proof liner under the exercise pen will help to protect flooring from water bowl spillage or any rare accidents.

Allowing your puppy to urinate and defecate in our litter box before coming out to have playtime will set your puppy up for success.

A toy or two will keep him/her occupied during nap times. A few days after the second vaccination has been administered your puppy can be immediately taken out doors upon waking and after eating to do his or her "business". You will find that our puppies catch on to this very quickly. We believe this is from the puppies having to think about where to "go" at a very young age. Taking the

The litter box and metal grate we use is given as a gift when your puppy goes home with you. We recommend having two of each of these. For a small fee of $20.00 we

We recommend shrinking or rather folding the exercise pen down to four panels when you first bring your puppy to your home. It will resemble a rectangle. I panel on each end and two panels on each side. This will make it easier for your puppy to find and use the litter box.
